Happy Birthday, son!
Hello, son! I hope this letter finds you later in your life when you’re mature enough to read and appreciate words your father has to share because right now you’re still learning how NOT to crap yourself in diapers. With that said, Happy Birthday, son. Isaac, two years to this day, you blessed so many people with your presence. The people around you find joy in your laughter, smiles, hugs, and embraces. Our lives are truly miracles and we should always be thankful that we each have our own to create, shape, and travel. It’s one of the world’s greatest joys for a father to hold his son close in his arms only to feel his son’s small arms hold steady around him as well.
These past 2 years have been nothing short of worthwhile. I have the pleasure to help teach you how to crawl, walk, run, jump, dance, give high-fives, give pounds, do the creeper, bboy, potty, say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, give hugs and kisses, sing the ABC’s, no more monkeys, twinkle twinkle little star, the itsy bitsy spider, how to count to 3…
And you have taught me, as well. You continually teach me to enjoy life’s small but profound pleasures like random hugs and kisses, to pay attention to the small details like ants and little bruises that I may not initially see, to be patient and understanding when you don’t understand what I’m saying, to be very keen and decipher your words like when you pronounce “aduing” means “what are you doing” and “firecock” means “firetruck.” You teach me that imagination is a strong force and that thinking outside the box is normal for you.
Thank you for being the kind, heart-warming, energetic, smart, generous, person that you are. Thank you for all the hugs and kisses you give me every day. Seeing you develop these 2 years just leaves me in awe of how fast you really are growing up. And it makes me very excited to see how well you’ll grow into the young man for the years to come.
I love you with all my heart, Isaac.
Love,
Dad
